Growing up in a Christian family, church activities have been a staple of my childhood. In elementary school, my mom assigned me as an assistant teacher during vacation Bible schools, and in high school, I became a Sunday school teacher in our church outreaches in Baras and Tanay. Today, I continue to serve as a Youth Leader in our church.
However, my Christian life extends beyond these roles; it's about my relationship with Jesus and how it has deepened, especially through adversities. From preschool to elementary, I faced bullying. In 2015, our community church experienced a painful division. Between 2016 and 2017, I was in an abusive relationship with a non-Christian classmate, which led me to become rebellious and toxic in my relationships. In 2018, I got a second chance to demonstrate my love for God and was accepted into my dream school, the University of the Philippines, to study Anthropology. Seeking an escape from my past traumas, I moved to Baguio, but instead of healing, I ended up struggling with my mental health, hitting rock bottom in 2020. Entering 2021, I dedicated myself to surrendering fully to God, choosing to let go of resentment. Since then, I have embraced my true worth in Jesus, finding solace in quiet times with Him. My Christian life is now firmly rooted in God's unconditional love.
With all these, I believe God has prepared me for missions from the very beginning. Everything was a training for what lies ahead of me-- to love, forgive, and hope. No matter how many times
I tried to end my life, it was His saving grace that carried me through. And so, it's about time to extend that grace for in September 2021 God spoke to me about Matthew 28:19,
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,..."
I had received this word from the Lord a few months after I was granted a free one-way air ticket by Asia Vision: Short Term Mission during our Youth Missions Online Camp 2021.
